Flat Faced Flanges With Metal-To-Metal Contact Outside the Bolt Circle.
ESCE, Inc. has programmed in template form all 9 combinations of the 3 classes and 3 categories of Appendix Y flange assemblies. The program runs only in MathCad 2000 or later. What use to take 2 days of grueling, error prone hand calculations can now be done in two minutes. All the the drudgery has been taken out of the calculations, including the need for calculating any of the flange factors (i.e. F, V, FL, VL, f, T, U, Y & Z). All the user needs to do is input the flange geometry, bolting, pressure and modulus of elasticity. The program will provide all the flange stresses necessary to design the flange. These stresses can then be compared to the flange allowable stresses per para. Y-7 in Appendix Y. If you are interested in purchasing the program the total cost is $100.

Description: The 3 classes and 3 categories of Appendix Y flanges have been programmed in MathCad 2000 using 9 separate templates as follows: Class 1, Category 1 flange assembly - FlgY11.mcd (MathCad template file name)
Class 1, Category 2 flange assembly - FlgY12.mcd (MathCad template file name)
Class 1, Category 3 flange assembly - FlgY13.mcd (MathCad template file name)
Class 2, Category 1 flange assembly - FlgY21.mcd (MathCad template file name)
Class 2, Category 2 flange assembly - FlgY22.mcd (MathCad template file name)
Class 2, Category 3 flange assembly - FlgY23.mcd (MathCad template file name)
Class 3, Category 1 flange assembly - FlgY31.mcd (MathCad template file name)
Class 3, Category 2 flange assembly - FlgY32.mcd (MathCad template file name)
Class 3, Category 3 flange assembly - FlgY33.mcd (MathCad template file name)
The user must decide the class and category of the flange assembly, load the corresponding
template file into MathCad and change the variables at the top of the first page (under Define Variables) to match the flange geometry.
